Move the Tower

About Move the Tower

Tower Of Hanoi is an ancient puzzle game that is now available as a game. Try your hand at this classic test of logic and strategy! In the game Move the Tower you will move disks from one rod to another, using the third as a temporary storage. But there is one rule - you can only rearrange one disk at a time, and at the same time you can not put a larger disk on a smaller one. Does it sound simple? But with each new level, the task becomes more complicated, and you will have to use all your wits to overcome it!

How to play

Click or tap a rod to pick up the smallest disk on that stack, then click another rod to place it there. You can only move one disk at a time, and you may never place a larger disk on top of a smaller one. The goal is to move the entire tower to a different rod while respecting these rules.

Tips and tricks

For a tower with N disks, the shortest solution uses 2^N - 1 moves, and you can reach it by following a repeating pattern of moves. Focus on moving the smallest disk in a regular cycle and using the other disks to support that pattern. If you feel lost, step back and rebuild the tower on its original rod, then try again with a slower, more deliberate rhythm.

Why this game works well at school or work

Move the Tower can be played one careful move at a time, which makes it ideal for very short sessions. It highlights ideas from computer science and mathematics, such as recursion and exponential growth, in a hands-on way. Because it runs in the browser and uses simple clicking, it fits well into classroom activities or quiet breaks at a desk.
